Asymmetric Tonic Neck Reflex

Typically positive from 18 weeks in utero and integrates by 6 months of life. Important for assisting in active birthing process and links head and neck movement to one side body movement. When not integrated properly can result in:

• Poor handwriting

• Eye tracking problems

• Difficulty crossing midline

• Tendency towards homolateral movements

• Mixed laterality
