Palmar Grasp Reflex

Typically emerges at 11 weeks in utero and integrates by 3 months of life. Important for developing find motor and sensory input. When not integrated properly can result in:

  • Decreased fine motor skills

  • Decreased manual dexterity

  • Inappropriate pencil grasp

  • Poor handwriting

  • Difficulty processing ideas on paper

  • Shortened stride during gait

  • Gripping of toes when walking
